Graphic and Cartographic Design
Summary
Freya is a recent graduate from the University of Leeds, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Geography. She joined the Spatial Design Hub team earlier this year and has since made significant strides in her professional development. During her studies, Freya built a solid foundation in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), which she has further refined through hands-on experience at Spatial Design Hub. Her work has strengthened her understanding of urban planning and deepened her skills in spatial analysis.
Freya’s cartographic design skills are underpinned by a strong background in data visualisation and visual communication. These skills have enabled her to produce compelling and effective mapping outputs across a variety of projects. Since joining the team, she has contributed to numerous urban planning initiatives, conducting spatial analyses in cities including London, Bristol, Montréal, and Houston. Her work has encompassed public transport evaluations, pedestrian mobility assessments, and broader urban movement studies.
In addition to city-scale analysis, Freya has applied her expertise to complex venue environments, including pedestrian flow modelling for a Formula 1 circuit and crowd movement analysis for the YTL Arena in Bristol. Her growing portfolio reflects both her technical proficiency and her evolving role within the urban mobility and design sector.
Project Experience
Bridge- Wellington,
Montréal:
My role consisted of an overall analysis of mobility networks within Bridge-Wellington. One task included analysing bus frequencies, assessing where the in-demand routes were within the bus network. I also worked on visualising the vehicle, cycle and pedestrian networks within this area, as well as how accessible the proposed site was from amenities, for pedestrians and cyclists.
YTL Arena, Bristol:
YTL Arena, the main objective was around the visualisation of mobility routing, which included visualising movement into and out of the YTL Arena, including pedestrian accessibility.
Westminster BIDs:
This project included using client provided data to analyse areas where businesses could potentially invest more into the area to bolster the local economy. This data was then input into our GIS system and then geolocated in order to visualise hot spots of properties with a higher price per sq4.
Crystal Palace, London:
Utilising network analyst to create both walking and cycling catchments across the site, to access walkability and accessibility of the area, in consideration of public transport networks nearby.
